Description
Two piece brown satin and velvet dress, with bodice (a) and skirt (b). Long satin skirt with large vertical pleats around back and sides, and velvet panel down front centre. Button closure at back waist. Attached petticoat/underskirt with pleated brown velvet fur below. Bodice is brown satin with brown velvet placket, collar and trim at cuffs. Stand up collar and faux notched collar. button closure down front left, covered with velvet panel which attached at front right with hooks and eyes. Row of small brown satin bows down either side of placket. Worn on the occasion of the wedding of Sarah Dumville to John Gibson, St. Catharines, Ontario in 1887.

Worn on the occasion of the wedding of Sarah Dumville to John Gibson, St. Catharines, Ontario in 1887. Their daughter, Ethel, married Vernor Simons. Vernor Simons was an uncle of the donor. Donor's father was Clifford Simons, brother of Vernor Simons.
