Additional Information
The photograph is taken at the Ogilvie Street Bridge and Bertrams.
The Mill race carrying water from Ewart's Dam through the Bertram factory to the Dundas Flour & Grist Mills. This race was first built in 1803 by Richard Hatt; sold to Jas. Belle Ewart in 1820; sold with the Dundas Mills to John MacKay in 1868; to John Wilson in 1881, to the Town of Dundas in 1897. When the dam was washed out on August 3, 1915, it was never rebuilt because electricity was then as cheap as this water power.
